Briefily Describe your Artwork

My artwork represents three mountain flowers which can be found in Switzerland. They are the Alpine Snowbell (Soldanella alpina), the Glacier Buttercup (Ranunculus glacialis) and the Mountain Cowslip (Primula auricula).

What motivated you to create this work of art and how do you identify with it?

The inspiration for my art comes from the Swiss paper cutting technique. I admire Johann Jakob Hauswirth’s and Louis Saugy’s artwork and the way they show everything with symmetrical shapes. I love drawing plants, especially flowers. I think the diversity of their shapes is wonderful. It’s also fascinating how they are able to adapt to the mountain weather.

How do you think art could lead to more sustainable behavior in society?

Art can show the beauty of this word, the beauty of the mountains, and the vulnerability of nature. If we can see this, we can realise the need to protect our habitat. This is the first step on the road to acting more sustainably.
